What are the hourly rates?
Super Decathlon is $230 per hour wet. The Extra is is $400 per hour wet.
Instruction is $100 per hour (flight and ground).
Where are the airplanes normally located?
Tango Whiskey is based at KROC (Rochester, NY) at US Airports where the Super Decathlon and Extra are located. During the winter months Tango Whiskey operates the Extra from Spruce Creek (Port Orange, FL). Call us for booking details.
Do you rent airplanes for solo flight?
At this time due to insurance Tango Whiskey provides dual instruction only.
Are there weight restrictions?
For safety we need to ensure that the weight and balance are within the appropriate envelope and that there is full flight control authority. Up to 240lbs can be accommodated. Good mobility is also needed (knees/back/hips) to climb in and out of the airplane.
Is there a minimum or maximum height?
We work with each person to ensure there is is full flight control authority. We have been able to accommodate people from 5’0” to 6’6” feet depending on the airplane and mission.
Do I have to be a pilot?
For an introductory tailwheel flight, we can provide that to anyone who is interested who can safely operate the airplane controls.
For aerobatics, including spins, one needs to be a certificate pilot meaning at least a PPL per the FAA regulations.
Do you use parachutes?
Yes, for all aerobatic flights parachutes are required per FAA regulations. For all spin training, Tango Whiskey Aviation company policy is to always use parachutes regardless if it’s for a CFI candidate endorsement or not.
What should I wear?
Dress for the weather and plan to be outside. Our airplanes are awesome, but not air conditioned.
What should I bring?
Please bring your pilot certificate, medical and photo ID, which will be required to log flight time. Bring your logbook and your headset if you own one.
What weather is required to fly?
We fly in VFR conditions only, and have a 3,000’ AGL hard deck for aerobatic lessons. Required ceilings are different for tailwheel and aerobatics, and will be determined by your instructor.
What forms of payment are accepted?
Venmo, cash or check and credit cards (with a fee applied) are all acceptable forms of payment at the time of service.
